The International Future House Awards for Residential Housing are born from the union of design and architectural vision, aiming to promote and recognize innovative projects that have a significant impact on the future of residential architecture worldwide.

"Coastal House" was selected by a jury composed of members from Global Design News and The Chicago Athenaeum, based on criteria that highlight its innovative design and the integration of the architectural ensemble with its natural surroundings.

Located on the Atlantic coast of Rocha, Uruguay, this beach house stands out for its focus on modern residential architecture, centering its design on functionality and the relationship with the landscape. This project reflects a growing interest in sustainability and environmental impact, key aspects in contemporary architecture. Settled on coastal dunes, it integrates harmoniously with nature, minimizing its ecological impact. Its innovative design features a folding wooden roof that adapts to the local topography, creating spacious indoor and outdoor areas. The house includes three main bedrooms, common areas, semi-covered terraces, swimming pools, and a guest house. Through the use of wood and glass, it seeks to reduce maintenance and achieve visual and luminous integration with the landscape, thus creating a unique residential experience in connection with nature.

The inclusion of "Coastal House" in the Permanent Collection of The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design constitutes additional recognition of its relevance in the field of residential architecture. This distinction highlights the project's excellence from an architectural perspective, while reflecting the sector's interest in exploring new forms of residential design that are both functional and respectful of the environment.
