Conversations on the Regional Infrastructure of Ecuador and the Americas
Reading time: 2 minutes
We invite you to watch the "Discussion on the Regional Infrastructure of Ecuador and the Americas," organized by the Ecuadorian University Network for Urban Studies (CIVITIC) and the Lay University of Eloy Alfaro of Manabí (ULEAM). In this event, Architect Gabriel Fernández, Head of Preliminary Projects at GP, delivered a lecture titled "Urban Nature: Designing Strategies to Rethink Habitat." The event is part of a series of meetings leading up to the 5th Ecuadorian Congress on City Studies, set to take place this coming November, in which the studio will also participate.
What do we understand by urban nature? What does habitat mean, and how should we rethink it? Habitat is the everyday setting of our lives at various scales, from housing to the city, and it helps to define our relationships with the environment and with others. Gabriel Fernández's presentation frames the concepts of urban nature and habitat and their interrelation through examples at different scales, based on the premise that transforming our surroundings is part of the human condition.
