Disruption Days, the premier international event on Real Estate innovation, gathers architects and industry leaders from across the globe. Its 2023 edition was celebrated on March 9 and 10 in Dallas, Texas.
Organized by 4S Real Estate, the event is designed to forge the perfect setting for unveiling new business concepts in the Latin American region, incorporating top international practices, sparking engaging debates among attendees, and offering a firsthand look at the latest innovations suitable for Latin America.
This year's edition was spearheaded by the renowned Perkins&Will studio, which dedicated both days to exploring adaptive reuse. They examined it as an essential strategy for urban revitalization, covering various aspects from market perspectives and urban planning to innovative design methodologies aimed at breathing new life into cities.
Continuing its tradition, the studio participated with a compelling presentation titled "The Building and the City as a Platform for Meaningful Experiences," focusing on conversion themes.
Presented by Arturo de los Santos, Pre Project Manager, it began with an overview of recent conversion projects by GP, including Carrasco Valley, Bilú Riviera, and the Banco Guayaquil headquarters. The session then highlighted a programmatic renewal proposal for a downtown Montevideo hotel, aiming to repurpose underused spaces and create a vibrant center for diverse activities.
Following the evaluation by the jury, composed of members from Perkins&Will and 4S, it was determined that "Gómez Platero Arquitectura & Urbanismo perfectly contemplated and described all the themes proposed for this edition of Disruption Days."
After the event concluded, Arturo de los Santos remarked, "Each time we participate in events of this magnitude, we gain an extraordinary level of consideration and new opportunities that arise. The anxiety, nervousness, and effort of everyone who made this presentation possible contribute to the collective achievement of this recognition and motivate us to continue striving for new and better ways to contribute to our discipline."
