With the theme "Building more transformation, equity, and sustainability," the congress will focus on three pillars: Regional development, Equity and employment, and Sustainability. It will explore the transformation in current housing policies, the technological impact on the sector, and how these trends can support government construction objectives. A strong emphasis will be placed on equity and sustainability, promoting housing that is both efficient and sustainable.
The construction sector meets the needs and preferences of its citizens. Colombia is a global leader in sustainable construction, with over 13 million m² certified under environmental standards. Remarkably, 80% of this is dedicated to social housing, positioning the country as a World Bank leader in sustainability. This underscores the national commitment to emission reduction targets for 2035 and dispels the myth that only luxury homes can be eco-friendly.
Among the notable speakers, Alejandro Aravena, the 2016 Pritzker Prize winner, will discuss the role of construction in urban development. Andrew Baum, a professor at the University of Oxford and a pioneer in real estate innovation, will address the sector's evolution, focusing on the shift from "selling to build" to "building to rent," and how this change can provide more comprehensive services in the industry.
Engineer Julián Do Santos, from the Business development department of the Studio in the Colombian office, stated, "For the Studio, participating in an event that gathers the most significant players in Colombian real estate development is crucial, allowing us to share our vision and work methodology, thereby contributing value to the sector."
