According to Bloomberg, the construction sector in Guatemala is expected to grow between 3.8% and 5% in 2023, positioning it among the three most prominent sectors of the national economy. Gómez Platero, in collaboration with Grupo Rosul of Guatemala, has been part of this growth, which is reflected in mixed-use projects like Join and Gaura, among others.
Seminar participants showed a keen interest in incorporating the concept of mixed uses in shopping centers. Santiago Pérez, an architect in the Business Development area, gave a talk titled "The Revaluation of Collective Experiences in Shopping Centers" and later participated in a panel on Architecture and Design of Shopping Centers alongside Manuel Zamundio (AXIS LATAM) and Bea De Paz (Gensler).
"The reinvention of space through the incorporation of new architectural programs and the value of the user experience are key aspects in this process. It's not just about adapting: designing the shopping centers of the future requires anticipating user needs, understanding new ways of living and consuming, and comprehending how we move and displace ourselves. Shopping center owners and managers can implement strategies to engage customers, motivating them to create experiences that go far beyond the mere act of purchasing," Pérez concluded.
