Martín Gómez Platero Honored at FPAA Awards
In October, representatives from the Society of Architects of Uruguay (SAU) attended the XXVII Pan-American Congress of Architects, held in Mexico City. This prestigious event, held every four years, brings together leading professionals from across the Americas to exchange ideas, share experiences, and celebrate excellence in architecture.
As part of the congress, the FPAA Awards—presented by the Pan-American Federation of Associations of Architects—recognized influential figures from the continent in various categories.
The FPAA Awards were first established during the 1984-1988 term under the presidency of Peruvian architect Juan Torres Higueras. This year, the international jury included esteemed professionals from Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Uruguay, reflecting the diversity and expertise of the region.
Among the honorees, Martín Gómez Platero, founder and CEO of his eponymous studio, received the Architect in Private Practice Award. This accolade highlights his significant contributions to advancing architecture through private-sector innovation and leadership.
The congress also featured the Pan-American Architecture Exhibition, a platform where each country could showcase up to ten outstanding works of architecture or urban design. This exhibition serves as a stage to celebrate the creativity and talent of architects from across the Americas.
Uruguay’s participation in this event underscores the dedication and excellence of its architectural professionals, showcasing their ability to compete and shine on the global stage.
