The aim was to design a new and important expansion of the Cantegril Hospital that would improve the quality of medical care and strengthen its presence in Punta del Este, for local residents as well as national and foreign vacationers and visitors.
The growth was to extend towards the rear of the property, without affecting the urban attributes of a low-density garden neighborhood and the environmental values of the surrounding densely wooded land.
The project is based on the intersection of two superimposed blocks of lightweight appearance, designed in response to the hospital’s requirements of connectivity and internal zoning. The character and disposition of the built volumes and the exterior spaces are sensitive to the urban conditions of the site.
