The project is defined as a system of hospitality centers that seek to connect the user with an experience of extraordinary natural qualities, free from the hustle and bustle of the city, where the landscape, the climate and the atmosphere of each specific setting acquire center stage.
Each shelter adapts and reacts to each setting and the landscape qualities of each locality. We have so far developed six different modalities, applied to a variety of ecosystems, to be scattered around different points around the globe.
The global demand for “off-the-grid” experiences related to wellness tourism, focused on maintaining and improving the overall health of the visitor by means of alternative techniques revolving around a connection with nature and the environment, has experienced a quick growth in the region in recent years.
“Escapes” is the latest incursion by Gómez Platero Architecture & Urbanism in the design and conceptualization of shelters in this design style, located in the secluded, natural landscapes, at a safe distance from the major city centers.
Rocks
Set amidst a deserted, arid and far-away context, this 50m² shelter invites the visitor to experience a mountain setting and take in the immensity of the clear skies.
Cocoon
Bolstered by the calm nature of the lake it emerges from, this 83m² shelter acquires the shape of a cocoon that floats on the surface of the water, nurtured by and giving shape to an experience informed by the wind, the stillness and the sounds of water.
Vertical
Suspended from the trees and characterized by a horizon that is lit-up, lush and elevated, this shelter is set amidst the woods with a total area of 112m², boasting two levels that are mobile and with an adjustable height.
Frame
A circular shelter with a 360-degree movable frame that invites enjoyment of a wide variety of landscapes free from interference, with a total area of 69m².
Specs
Conceived as an adaptable structure to be installed at the boundary between land and water, the shape of this 94m² typology reaches out to the landscape, one lens looking up at the sky while the other aims for the views of the lake.
Slope
Set in environments of high altitude and a clear horizon, this 84m² shelter adapts to rocky, irregular surfaces, relating to the experience of being suspended from the edge of a cliff.
