The Lagoon Walkway Project is situated in the southeastern sector of Sauce Lagoon, stretching approximately 3 kilometers eastward along the coastal edge. This area's unique landscape serves as an ideal backdrop for creating a dynamic ecosystem that blends the natural environment with sustainable tourism development.
This initiative aims to enhance the value of the area, promoting its enjoyment and use while fostering respect for the natural environment and encouraging a healthy lifestyle. The plan introduces two additional paths to the existing road network: a bike path and a pedestrian walkway. This design facilitates a journey through diverse settings with minimal environmental impact, seamlessly integrating into the surrounding landscape.
The project fosters interaction between the urban structure, modified areas, and the natural environment, enriching and maximizing the area's usability through varied experiences—ranging from different vistas and speeds to textures. It strategically connects points of interest, encouraging slower movement to appreciate the views, engage in bird watching, or find tranquility in shaded, quiet spots.
Spaces are thoughtfully designed between the paths to offer areas for relaxation and engagement, complemented by conveniently located service facilities. This approach transforms the linear boundary into a permeable, inviting edge leading towards the coast.
A series of carefully crafted installations provide essential amenities for tourists, safeguard the landscape, and contribute to the area's unique identity. The design strategically addresses potential environmental stressors—such as vehicle traffic and the establishment of campsites—by centralizing these activities in designated areas. This mitigates potential harm to the local fauna, flora, and coastal processes.
Ultimately, the Lagoon Walkway Project seeks to reinvigorate the coastal edge, prioritizing the preservation and conservation of the natural environment. It aims to offer a foundation for sustainable tourism and enhance the enjoyment of the landscape, aligning with goals for ecological balance and community well-being.
